An unscheduled landing was made by an aircraft operated by Air Canada on Thursday (10 August) after a suspicious package was identified on board.

The flight, which was travelling from Montreal to Reagan Washington National Airport, was reportedly diverted to Baltimore after the pilot said that a suspicious package had been found.

According to The Associated Press the aircraft landed at approximately 16:10 local time and the passengers continued their journey by bus.

A spokeswoman for the US Transportation Security Administration said that the package was later found to be a box of plates and trays, Reuters reported.
