AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2006 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

A shootout with authorities at Homer airport in Alaska on Wednesday (1 March) ended in the death of a man who was wanted on federal drug charges.

Jason Karlo Jacob Anderson was in a rented car with his two children. His two-year-old son was critically injured in the shootout but his six-month-old baby was unhurt.

Anderson had apparently gone to the airport to exchange a rental car and was approached by three police officers and a marshal while he waited in the airport's parking lot.

Anderson reportedly drew a gun, prompting the shootout situation.

He had been charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana, and with distributing meth, The Associated Press reported.
