Los Angeles Business Journal - LAX to the Max - Los Angeles International Airport's parking lots filled over holidays - Brief ArticleDespite efforts by Los Angeles World Airports to encourage people to get rides or use alternate modes of transportation during the holiday crunch.
LAX's bargain long-term parking lots were filled to capacity well before the holiday weekend even began. With the airport's $5 lots full and private lots also jammed, thousands of travelers were forced to park for several days in short-term parking at $24 a day.
That might translate into a nice holiday windfall for the city-owned airport, but that's not the point, explained LAX spokeswoman Gail Goddi.
"If our main objective was to make money, we wouldn't be promoting our $5 lots," Goddi said.
