AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

A woman gave birth on a flight operated by Caribbean airline BWIA earlier this week, an airline official said on Wednesday (20 July).

The flight from Trinidad was about 10 minutes away from its destination of New York on Tuesday (19 July) when the baby boy was born. Flight attendants and a midwife who was a passenger on board gave assistance to the mother.

Flight BW500 landed safely at John F. Kennedy International Airport and the mother and baby were taken to a hospital, where they were said to be in good health.

A US immigration official said that the baby would be entitled to apply for US citizenship, reported The Associated Press.
